How does the Design Tool work?

What happens after you click on 'Design Your Own' button? Your click opens the design tool to personalise your favours. When the tool opens you’ll see four menus (two on the left and two on the right) and your chosen design in the middle and if you scroll down you’ll find the fifth menu. All these five menus have different options and will help you create your own personalised design. To help you understanding how the design tool works, all the five menus will be described and explained below!

Menu 1

You will find this menu above the Design Canvas and it holds all the general options, such as undo a previous adjustment, copy or paste an element or delete your design. If you just want to adjust the text in the design, you probably do not need this menu. Note that 'Reset' will clear the adjustments and loads the base design (front & optional back of the product). 'Delete' deletes all adjustments and also the base design.

Menu 2

This menu can be found below the Design Canvas. You can adjust the size and view of the canvas through this menu. You can work in full-screen mode, or fit the canvas to the normal view.

Menu 3

Do you want to add extra texts, photo’s or Clip Art elements? Than this menu holds all the right options. However, if you only want to change the existing Clip Art elements or texts, than it might be easier to adjust these elements right from the Design Canvas. These elements can be changed through the pop-up menu on the right side of the Design Canvas, that menu will be explained at Menu 4.

Menu 4

In base, this menu is perfect when you only want to adjust all text items. By pressing 'Edit all text items' a pop-up menu opens and here you can adjust all text items in just a few seconds.

When you click on a specific text/clipart in the canvas design, this menu will expand and show you various options.

Text options

Choose your desired font with the Font Family option, by clicking on the current font in this menu. A new menu will pop up where you can choose different sub categories like popular fonts, handwriting fonts and common fonts. Once you have selected the desired font you can adjust the Font Size by changing the font size number or by using the Font Size scroll button. After the Font Size you can also adjust the colour of the text in your design. Click on the current colour in this menu and add an colour code or use the colour scheme to pick the perfect colour.

Do you want to change the position of the text element, with the Element Alignment option you can change the position of the text easily to the top, side, bottom or middle of the design. However, you are also able to drag the textbox to the desired place within the design!  The last step in this menu is the advance option menu, we advice you not to use this menu unless you are familiar with these sort of options. Normally, you will find enough options within the basic options menu.

Clipart options

Option one is the Size Ratio option, this is automatically selected and we advise you to keep this options selected for a normal sized Clipart element. To fill in the Clipart element with a colour, just click on the colour button. Here you can enter a colour code or choose a colour from the palette. To adjust the border colour of the element you can also click on the colour button. Here you can enter a colour code or choose a colour from the palette.

Do you want to change the position of the Clip Art element, with the Element Alignment option you can change the position of the Clip Art easily to the top, side, bottom or middle of the design. However, you are also able to drag the textbox to the desired place within the design! To rotate the Clipart use the rotation but which can be dragged to the left and right to adjust the rotation.  To blur the Clip Art the opacity tool can be used by dragging the button from left to right.

Menu 5

You can find this menu on the right side of the Design Canvas. This menu has nothing to do with adjusting the design, but it is important when you have finished your design. Here you can ask for a preview of your design, you can save the design so you can adjust or order it at a later moment and you can put the design in your shopping bag! Note: when you want to save your design you have to make an account first, make sure that you save you login data.

Note: Please do not forget that some products also have backside. Do not forget to design this side also!
